WOSA WORLD
SAVEUR magazine and WOSA Summer BBQ in NY:
1 July 2013
On Tuesday the 25th of June WOSA USA participated in the SAVEUR Summer BBQ event in NY. SAVEUR is a high end food and wine magazine that celebrates the cultures and environments in which dishes are created and the people who create them. It is an international magazine, but very popular specifically in the USA. Every year they host a BBQ day in NY at the Boat Basin on the Hudson River, and invite chefs from around the world to participate and create authentic dishes from their respective countries. Each chef was asked to prepare only one dish. South African chef Hugo Uys created a delicious, typical South African dish: curry marinated lamb chops, served on a bed of “paptert” and tomato chutney. His dish won the prize for being the best of the day! 500 people attended the event, 80 % of them from the food and wine trade and press. WOSA’s station was the only stand where wine was served. Six importers joined forces with WOSA and they were also very pleased with this ideal networking opportunity. DGB’s Rib Shack Red in particular drew a lot of attention from our guests. We hope to be able to participate next year again. For more information on the BBQ, please visit http://www.saveur.com/article/Sponsored/3rd-Annual-SAVEUR-Summer-BBQ-Global-Food-Tasting-Event. They have not updated the event's page with the 2013 BBQ yet, but if you have more specific questions, please give us a call.
